1. Eat healthier - "Your food
shall be your medicine" -- Hippocrates.
A healthier lifestyle should start by
changing your eating habits. Your diet plays an important
role in the maintenance of good health and in the prevention
and cure of diseases.
Your body needs specific nutrients which
are provided by the food you eat. At the same time the food
you eat is also responsible for preventing or curing
disease.
Most diseases are produced by an under
supply of any given nutrient. This can be caused by a number
of factors which include: the intense processing and
refining of foods; the time lapse between the harvesting and
consumption
of vegetables and fruits; the chemicals used in bleaching,
flavoring, coloring and preserving foods; and the chemical
fertilizers, fungicides insecticides and sprays used for
treating the soil in which the food is grown, among other
things.
A well-balanced diet is thus of utmost importance for the
maintenance of good health and the healing of diseases. Such
a diet, obviously should be made up of foods, which in
combination would supply all the essential nutrients.
2. Exercise - Physical exercise is
essential for the maintenance of normal condition of life,
while lack of exercise is one of the chief causes of
weakness and poor health.
Exercise is necessary in order to
preserve a good digestion, to make elimination natural and
effective, and to stir up the circulation of the blood,
among other things.
As a matter of fact, lack of exercise has
been linked to serious health conditions such as arthritis
an rheumatism. Also, heart disease has its origin in the
poor circulation of the blood.
3. Do not smoke or drink alcohol -
Do you poison
your whole system — your lungs, mouth, throat, heart and
blood stream—with deadly cigarettes?
Smoking is not safe a any level. It is
the only consumer product that kills a high number of those
who use it in the way intended by the manufacturer. If you
really want to improve your health, smoking is one habit you
have to give up.
Drinking alcohol affects your liver,
kidneys and heart. It slows down your brain and blood
stream. Drinking alcohol as well as smoking destroy tissues
and organs in your body and in destroying the parts, they
are destroying the whole.
4. Do not overeat -
Are some of
your organs being required to function at more than capacity
because you will not curb your appetite? Do you deliberately
put an extra strain on your muscles and bones by asking
them to carry a greater weight than they were intended to
bear?
There
is only one thing to do about it. Stop overeating. Thousands of people go around excusing their excess
weight by the flimsy excuse that their glands are out of
order or that they have a sluggish thyroid. In most cases, it is simply not true.
You are overweight because you
overeat.
5. Stop using drugs -
Are
you addicted to drugs? Aspirin, alkalizes, bromides and
sleeping pills? Do you reach for a pain killer as soon as
you feel the smallest ache or pain? If you do, you are not
only poisoning your system but upsetting the balance that
nature so carefully provided.
6. Invest in your self development
- Self development, self improvement, self help and self
growth refer to the same concept of looking inside to help
yourself improve your quality of life.
A healthier lifestyle requires you to
change your current habits, behaviors and attitudes and this
is easily done developing your inner self through any self
development program you choose to follow.
7. Good oral hygiene - Good oral
hygiene is the best thing you can do to your teeth and gums.
Good oral health is important for your overall health and
wellbeing.
